Sharon Kamusiime of Ganyana Fashion House Shares Her Rules of Style

By  |

SKamusiime is the creative director of Ganyana Fashion House, a renowned fashion house famed for its easy breezy ready to wear pieces. Here she shares style rules she lives by in her personal style, swears by to her friends and clients, and also follows as a women’s wear designer.

  1. It’s important to dress to impress yourself, not other people

There will always be someone who thinks you look bad no matter what you wear, so dress to make you happy. This will hugely reflect on your outlook and everyone around you’ll make an impression on everyone around you.

  • Always go with comfort rather than style

It won’t matter how trendy or unique your clothes are, if you’re not comfortable wearing them the result is always a disaster. We try so much to push limits and try new things, however comfort should be top priority as we do this.

  • Don’t be afraid to standout

As a designer and dress maker, I believe that if I’m not dressing you up to be the best dressed girl at wherever you’re headed, then I’m not doing my job well. Don’t be afraid to stand out at work, in your relationships and even among your peers. It doesn’t even have to be style alone, everything. You’ve got to be memorable.

  • Dress your personality

Care to represent to yourself. Stick to who you are because that is your individuality and usually, that’s what stands out.

  • Buy quality

Consider quality construction, materials and fabrics so that you get a good return on your money. Buy the best clothing you can afford.

  • Timeless is everything

I prefer to buy pieces that will still look cool after months in my closet rather than ‘hot trends’.

  • Embrace and love your body shape

No matter how expensive that dress is, it won’t look good if it doesn’t fit your body right

  • Fashion is democratic.

Stylishly wear anything you want, no matter your age, background or body shape. Don’t put yourself in a box.
