Reach A Hand, Uganda (RAHU) in partnership with Incredible media, Population Services International, NBS, Light for the World, UNESCO Uganda, Mariestopes, QUAD A, Uganda Waragi, CEHURD, Rutgers, Segal Family Foundation and MOVIT have launched season 2 of Kyaddala season 2 drama series last Thursday at Mestil Hotel.
The series, that will be air on NBS T.V fridays 8pm – 9pm, has an objective to educate and empower young people with SRHR information in a relatable way, and to tell the stories that affect them. The storyline and theme of the series show the diversity of challenges in managing and addressing their continually changing sexual reproductive health needs. The series delves into the day-to-day interactions between young people, their teachers, families, and friends, as well as their realities as they navigate these ever-changing needs from adolescence to young adulthood.
“For the past 10 years of existence, RAHU has empowered young people across different districts in Uganda to be the best they can. We believe that we have all the energies and talent to shape our own destiny. It may take time, but it does not matter as long as we hold onto our vision., part of the reasons why we ventured into Kyaddala, is for young people to be able to tell their own stories.” – Humphrey Nabimanya CEO & Founder Reach a Hand Uganda, Executive Director- Kyaddala.
Young women are four times more likely to be infected with HIV/AIDS, only a few young people know how to prevent HIV infection, and the majority of young women have encountered violence in their lives. This is a strong indication that accurate SRHR information and services are in short supply. When the majority of young people lack access to the necessary SRHR information and services, it has a negative impact on the country’s social and economic sectors. COVID 19 exacerbated the SRHR difficulties that Ugandan youth face. – Regional Director at UNESCO Uganda
“Kyaddala season 2 is a notch higher than season 1. It’s not just entertainment, it’s edutainment. “The issues that young people are facing are very critical and they require our time, experience, and resources to be able to deal with these issues.”When you see content that Kyaddala airs. its content that educates that’s why we have partnered with Reach a Hand. to create more awareness and inspire positive change among young people.. “- Joseph Kigozi Deputy CEO at Next Media
