Plus-Size Fashion Festival Africa 2022 Returns In Kampala, Uganda.

The Plus Size Fashion Festival is officially back this 2022, with a theme inspired by Barkcloth, a natural fabric which has been popular in Uganda for many years.

The purpose of ‘Bark To The Roots Xperience 2022’ is to draw emphasis on African textiles such as; barkcloth which are naturally grown and woven in different regions of the African continent. The fashion industry in Africa is dominated by second-hand clothing which has become a barrier to the development of the fashion-textile industry. So the aim this year and henceforward is to challenge that colonial setting and spark change amid fashion designers in Africa to take action.

Bark To The Roots Xperience 2022 encapsulates heritage, culture, innovation, technology, empowerment, collaboration, diversity and looks into the future of fashion business.

Plus-size Fashion Festival Africa invites you to the 4th edition, ‘Bark To The Roots Xperience’ which is taking place in Kampala, Uganda at Hotel Africana Convention Centre from Friday 2nd December 2022, 10:00am-8:00pm. The festival is an exhibition of clothing made by local & international fashion designer and its aim is to pioneer a plus-size fashion segment within the industry.

ABOUT PFFEST

Plus-size Fashion Festival Africa is an African fashion festival which empowers plus-size women though body positivity, fashion, hair beauty and make-up. The festival was officially launched to the public in Uganda in December in 2019 at Skyz Hotel, Kampala.

As of 2020 and 2021 the festival has taken place virtually due to the effects Covid-19 global pandemic. First emerged in 2016 on Instagram as ‘The Figure Bombshell’, a movement empowering curvy and plus-size in Africa, the festival has cemented itself as the ultimate women empowerment event on the continent.

Bark To The Roots Xperience 2022 will comprise 5 small events which will lead up to the main event in December featuring: International Women’s Month, The Creative Fund, I am Beyond Body campaign, The Body Talks show, Plus Katale Business Talk Show and Post- Pffest Launch party.
