Millions of people around the world know Bobi Wine as a charismatic pop star, acclaimed for Afrobeat music with a propulsive rhythm. But to many in Uganda, he is far more than that. His remarkable rise from the slums of Kampala is told in the new documentary Bobi Wine: The People’s President, directed by Moses Bwayo and Christopher Sharp. National Geographic, in partnership with Variance Films, releases the film theatrically in New York and Los Angeles on July 28, with a broader rollout to follow.
