[Photos]: Inside The Extraordinary Fashion Exhibition at The First ASFAs Fashionpreneur Summit

Don't underestimate the power of Ugandan design!

In celebration of Uganda’s design industry, Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards put up a fashion exhibition showcasing creations from some of Uganda’s top creatives; designers and stylists. These were joined by David Tlale from South Africa, who flew in just for the event.

The exhibition was part of the awards’ first fashionprenuer summit which held yesterday at Skyz Hotel Naguru. The purpose being to demonstrate just how much Uganda’s design industry has grown. Each designer was tasked to tell their story through their creation, no wonder each garment was unique in detail and design, sticking true to ethos of its creator.

See every garment that was exhibited plus the extraordinary story behind it

Unstoppable !
Set in winter solstice, a fashion lover struggling with changing weather and a sexy dress code for a themed reception, tries to reveal a little skin but in warm clothing, employing thick linings to still provide warmth, nothing will stop her from achieving the perfect look, more like how life unpredictably presents situations, not caring what plans one had before, the struggle to deal with the present situation without taking eye off the prize , the unstoppable attitude and spirit we need at times to survive .

I set out to make an African floral printed Ankara gown with a sophisticated elegant touch coupled with blossoming colours.
I was inspired by the floral detail and the beauty of their continued roundness that runs through the entire piece. Flowers represent beauty, cheerfulness, playfulness , and are a sign of love and so much hope. Flower grow humble but blast out in their blossom.
My piece, “The Floral Princess”  is a gown for a bride feeling young and beautiful.  My gown represents cheerfulness, playfulness, the joyfulness but still an elegant and humble African Ankara styled piece.

FASHION IS POWER
With the power of fashion, we are pushing up the Bark cloth ideation and energy of our ancestors, the way we have come up with a piece that portrays a wonder and mother tree that feeds, provides, supports and beautifies our nation.

At KAS WEAR we always aim at creating ideas, share knowledge to people and change their perspective through exposing African art.

We are looking at a Uganda where people no longer import fabrics but harvest.

Princess Reminiscence.
This turquoise gown with floating ruffles channel’s a  princess’ most cherished garment amongst her bridal trousseau.
It’s a  master piece, fused with a dramatic ankara cape and twin flaps as a style merger element of both Victorian and African contemporary designs. It’s a spark in a timeless fashion era from an unconventional style mastermind.
