Naomi Campbell Is Absolutely Regal On The Cover of Vogue

By  |

We all know her and love her- a true trailblazer in the fashion world when it came to making space for black women in modeling, Naomi Campbell graces the cover of Vogue for their November issue. It might be uncountable the number of times the supermodel has been on Vogue, but this time around she is being celebrated in a different light. A mentor and friend to many, this issue explores the ways she is giving back to the fashion community by mentoring young up and commers in the modelling world.

In the cover article, the topics explored include the journey it took to get here, and how Naomi has been fighting the race fight since the very beginning, and with enough tact to avoid becoming just a token black girl, but a powerhouse. “I never used to say the word racism; I just used to say, it’s territorialism,” she tells Afua Hirsch, “I never wanted people to say that I used that as an excuse, that I was throwing that word out. Now I’m happy that everyone’s all on the same page, that everyone feels comfortable to come out about their experiences without feeling some stigma. But for me, nothing’s changed. I’m going to speak the same way.”

She is a mentor to many, including powerhouses like Adut Aketch and Anok Yai, and continues to inspire many to break barriers. Find the full article here
