Meagan Good Is All Sleeves For Coveteur

By  |

Meagan Good-Franklin is known for her stunning looks and her immeasurable talent in acting. The actor who recently turned 40 took to Coveteur to talk about the new projects she has in the works. She is soon debuting a new comedy series called “Harlem”, and is very excited for the direction life is going for her.

Meagan speaks about how she managed to reinvent herself and her image in order to get roles better suited to her:

“(In my 20s) I went into this space of playing a lot of the girlfriend roles, a lot of the love interests, girl-next-door,” she says. “By the time I was in my late 20’s I felt really pigeonholed in that space where I felt like people were like ‘Okay, she’s an attractive girl so we should hire her for this but she probably doesn’t do anything else.’ That’s what it felt like to me.”

So what did she change this outlook when she turned 30? “The first thing I did was I cut all my hair off to try to get people to see me differently and then I decided I’m gonna try TV again. It was the year we really started having the conversation about diversity and every time I’ve been doing TV, I was always playing the sergeant, the boss, more of a guest star role—it wasn’t the lead. I set my stipulations and said ‘All right, I wanna do a show that’s diverse. I want to be a leading character. I wanna be able to do action. I want to be strong but vulnerable.’ I said this is what I want and I ended up getting Deception.
