Malaika Ubwiza Stuns In Shoot By Budding Stylist Claret

Malaika of Ubwiza Fashion House decided to stun us this women’s month with an empowering shoot that was conceptualised by Claret Baraba, a stylist behind the Sununu Effect (a mobile salon service).

Claret, who has previously worked on the set for the ‘Sunday’ music video (by Slick Stuart, Dj Roja, and Tonix – yes, that Sunday) had never really done a photo shoot to show the world her work. Well, that changed when she linked up with Malaika to drop this bomb on us, “Malaika Ubwiza and I had for the longest time spoken casually about collaborating on a project but had never brought our ideas to life.
We talked about a week ago and finally sat down to share our ideas on the concept and shot 3 days after that,” she said.

She adds, “The idea was to create a look that reflected an over-the- top classy, modern day African woman or queen. It had to feel effortless, flawless, powerful beautiful and content without the need to prove her worth to anybody.” And darling did we feel the power!
