Kas Wear sought inspiration from the Masai for their new collection presented at Kampala Fashion Week last weekend. The brand gave the popular Masai wrap (shuka) a modern twist with hoodies and held up hemlines. According to Ras Kasozi, the creative director of the brand this collection was inspired by a young Masai called Moran.
“Moran is a warrior getting prepared for marriage. I wanted to show what people would wear to this ceremony. Moran is modern and lives in the digital age,” he offered. “The hoodie detail is like protective gear since Moran is a warrior. The hemlines are raised to manage the heat,” he added.
The collection is unisex.
