Instagram’s ‘Following’ tab which has for a long time been a source of conflict for a lot of friendships and relationships is going down this week. Who hasn’t felt the heartbreak of waiting for someone to text you back, and going on Instagram only to discover that the person was busy liking their ex’s photos? Or the fear of showing up on the tab because you liked something others may find….interesting?
Instagram decided to get rid of the ‘Following’ tab (currently accessible through the heart icon) displays what posts your friends are liking, commenting on, and following. Instagram will now only display your own activity. The changes are already in effect, with their most recent update, you won’t get to see any activity that doesn’t concern you. Stalkers will have to work a lot harder to get information on how you live your life.
Instagram’s head of product Vishal Shah said the tab was removed for the sake of simplicity, and to cut down on a feature that most people didn’t know existed. Will you miss it?
