How they met

Brian Peter and I met at MUBS Jinja campus in 2013.  One day, he came to me and borrowed an IT text book. We exchanged contacts and he promised to return the book the next day, a promise he didn’t keep. I played it cool, after all, I had his contact. I knew I would get it anytime.

The next time we met was during an IT practical lecture. I missed a seat and he offered me his! I felt loved & cared for. All this happened in the course of the week.

Over the weekend, on Saturday, I reached out to him asking for my text book. He requested me to pick it from from his home, if I didn’t mind. However, I had a party to attend with my girlfriends and we had to link up later that evening. I still headed to his place to fetch my book.

Upon arrival, I got a headache and offered me some pain killers. He also went ahead to prepare tea for me. He also advised that I rest and leave the following day. I insisted on leaving that evening but he didn’t relent. His advice was that; heading to the party would worsen my condition. Meanwhile, my friends were calling incessantly.

Much as I wanted to attend the party, I enjoyed Brian’s hospitality so much that I spent the night at his place. We got even closer after that, and our love story began like that.

Fortunately or unfortunately for me, I left MUBS in 2015 to do another course at Makerere University in Kampala. This, however, didn’t affect our relationship. It’s like I had purposely gone to MUBS to get a partner and not pursue a degree😀 .

Anyway, I finished my degree at Makerere and graduated in 2019.

Engagement

We got engaged during my graduation dinner on 18.01.19.
After almost everything was done, my appreciation speech inclusive,  it was Brian’s time to say something. As he was done, he went onto one knee, opened the ring box, and asked me if “I would marry him”!

Oooh my… This took me by surprise. It took me more than a minute before I gave him an answer, not because I wasn’t sure, but the feeling was unexplainable. I always looked forward to that moment and I thought I would somehow know when it would come, but Brian Peter really caught me off guard and I loved it. It was such an emotional moment,  I shed tears of joy, and later said YES!

Planning our wedding

Initially, our plan was to hold our introduction in July (his birthmonth), then wedding in October (when our love story began) or December (my birthmonth). But, I got pregnant in February and everything changed..

We opted to do both events in July before I got too heavy. Of course, that wasn’t my dream wedding moment (being pregnant on my wedding), but again I wanted us to finish what we had started at once without postponing.

I remember at some point he asked if I was really comfortable with doing the wedding while I was pregnant because he wished that I first gave birth, then we hold the events. But, I told him I was okay with it (although deep inside I wasn’t really).

To cut the long story short, the preparations kicked off. We had a simple kukyala in May. Then had our introduction done on 06.07.19 and wedding on 13.07.19, a day after his birthday (12.07).

At least, we achieved one of our dreams (getting married in his birthmonth). I wasn’t so involved in the planning process since I was heavy, so most things were done by family and friends. However, I chose my bridal entourage and colours. It was such a beautiful & colourful event I must say.

We were wedded at SDA Church Kirinya and held our reception at Nambole stadium in Kiprotich hall.

On 23rd November, 2019 we were blessed with a handsome baby boy. To God be the glory for the year 2019🙏🏽
