‘Madam Hero’ is Hamisa Mobetto’s debut song, as she embarks on a new career as a pop star. As the title suggests, the Tanzanian socialite declares her pursuit to be Africa’s next hero, placing her name in the echelon of women such as Lupita Nyongo, Miria Makeba and Yvonne Chaka Chaka. Zari’s name is however glaringly absent on her list of ‘heroes’.
After listening to this song, you’ll realize that the only thing she and Ms. Hassan have in common is ‘terrible vocals’. While the latter almost convinced us she had a place in the music space, even without a voice, Mobetto fails to impress. She sounds like she’s reading her lyrics off a script forgetting to use her visibly minimal vocal abilities to their full potential.
Just like all her other attempts to be the next Zari Hassan, this was another fatal mistake. On the flip side, her philanthropic efforts are highly commendable.
