Gioseff is a brainchild of Paula Butagira, a former fashion magazine editor and stylist. The label’s Ugandan International Fashion Week collection was something out of a forest, evidenced by the colour palette of forest green and brown.
Although set out incohesively, the devil was in the detail of each piece. The first look was a green and brown dress with flower applique and intricate beading on the bust. The second look, a lace cocktail dress with an asymmetric neckline. The third look, a halterneck cropped top with a tiered printed skirt. Basically every look could stand on its own.
When we caught up with the designer she shared that her main focus while creating is the detail of her pieces.
“I draw a lot of inspiration from couture. When creating, I start with a colour palette then pick fabrics and everything else goes on from there,” she added.
