From DMs to “I Do” Stellah & Harold’s Love Story

Couple: Stellah Mulindwa, an entrepreneur and founder of Natra Vitamins Ltd & Lil Madeline Daycare and Harold Ddumba, a housing coordinator in Framingham, Massachusetts

Event Date: December 21, 2024
Location: Pongwe, Zanzibar

How They Met

Ours is an interesting story. I first met Harold at my hostel in Akamwesi, Nakawa, through my cousin Dan. Dan would visit me, and on two occasions, he brought Harold along. Unfortunately, at the time, I wasn’t interested in dating him—I didn’t even take his number! All his attempts to woo me were futile. Not long after, he moved to the USA, and we both carried on with our lives.

However, he never stopped checking in through my DMs, since he didn’t have my contact. But I still wasn’t interested! I guess it just wasn’t God’s timing. On one fine October afternoon in 2022 he slid in my DM and for the first time we effortlessly has a great chat, I shared my number and he immediately video called me! And later that December he flew in.

Engagement

We started dating in January 2023, but the following month, in February, he returned to the USA! I must say, he’s a great communicator—it hardly felt like a long-distance relationship.

On April 21, 2023, during a vacation in Dubai, he proposed! It had only been four months of dating, but it felt like we had been together for years. He knows I find the sea and ocean therapeutic, so the marina was the perfect setting. He hired a yacht, and we sailed through the proposal.

Planning the Wedding

God was in every detail. I can confidently say I was one bride who had a flawless and beautiful planning experience.

First, I love intimate weddings because they are meaningful. An intimate wedding by the ocean? It had to be Zanzibar. We hired the best planner in Tanzania—@EF Weddings! Melania and her team executed every detail to perfection, exactly as discussed. She sourced the best service providers and a beautiful private resort. She handled all the legwork, so we only had to fly to Zanzibar twice to meet the team and taste the menu.

Our family and friends coordinated the flight arrangements. Everything moved smoothly, and I even left for Europe for a pre-wedding vacation with my sisters.

Thank God for Instagram—that’s how I met Melania, the Executive Director of EF Weddings TZ. Her work stood out from the rest! The Holy Spirit gave us peace and confidence even before we contacted her. She planned everything, from sourcing vendors to maintaining communication.

The Wedding Gown

I am not a girly girl. At one point, I considered wearing a gorgeous jumpsuit with a cathedral train. But later, I came across a stunning AI-generated peplum gown that was unique—and the rest is history.

Décor

Our theme color was white—for obvious reasons! It’s clean and elegant. Thank God all our 70 guests got the memo and dazzled angelically. The décor and guest dress theme blended perfectly.

The Destination

We strongly believe in executing the perfect will of God. It was God’s perfect will and plan for us to get married there.

We love the ocean, and Zanzibar was perfect for an intimate wedding. Friends and family bonding on a beautiful island while celebrating love—it was more than worth it! It was deeply meaningful, not just another event, but a true celebration of love.
