Last Thursday evening, Rihanna hosted her fourth annual Diamond Ball, an event she set up to benefit the Clara Lionel Foundation, the non-profit she founded in 2012. As expected, all her stylish pals gathered to support. But, who shined brightest?
Fashion Police is here to review the looks .
Rihanna
Rihanna’s Alex Mabille couture lace catsuit redefined ‘underwhelming’. This white frock of tackiness sloshed all over; the dull makeup and boring hair made us all yawn. And to think she was the host makes it even worse.
Verdict: Flop – 3/10
Lala Anthony
Lala’s Illusions gown was good but not special. Just another meh moment.
Verdict: Fly-ish – 6/10
Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany Haddish should have stuck to her infamous Alexander McQueen gown instead of showing up looking like Mary J Blige’s ghost. The blunt bob and makeup aged her so much, and took away from the midnight blue sequin gown.
Verdict: Flop-ish – 5/10
Jasmine Sanders
Jasmine Sander’s soft makeup rocked, until the dress happened. The plunging sheer top is her chest’s cry for help. Too much expose’ yet there’s nothing to show. The thigh-high slit saved little.
Verdict: Flop – 2/10
Normani
Normani looks like a white peacock thrown out of the jungle and onto the red carpet. This is too ‘costume-y’ and hideous at every turn; the feather adornment and dramatic gloves are fit for theatre, not red carpet.
Verdict: Flop – 1/10
Teyana Taylor
Teyana Taylor’s pinstripe pantsuit-inspired Moschino gown should have been left in Maggie Smith’s Harry Porter wardrobe where it belongs.
Verdict: Flop – 3/10
Paris Hilton
This is like a disturbing hair removal ad on a continuous loop.
Verdict: Flop – 1/10
Justine Skye
Justine Skye’s asymmetrical hot pink Prabal Gurung gown was the highlight of the evening; flowy and fun.
Verdict: Fly – 10/10
Issa Rae
Issa Rae’s gold Valentino dress was supposed to make her shine bright like a diamond, but unfortunately it ended up hanging on her like a homemade holiday gift wrapper. It does absolutely nothing for her curves,
Verdict: Flop – 2/10
Nicky Hilton
Nicky Hilton managed to do the impossible; make a tiered ruffled lace Oscar de La Renta gown look tired and jaded. It’s like she’s dragging around a weird fish carcass. The colour doesn’t work too.
Verdict: Flop – 2/10
