Fashion Face-off: Vinka Vs. Britney Spears

Everyone who lived near a TV screen in the 90’s remembers the 1998 hit song by Britney Spears, Hit Me Baby One More Time. It’s 2019 now but the mark set by that song lives on in many ways. The most iconic of them being the school girl outfit that was prominent in the video.

Vinka recently released the visuals for her song ‘Bigambo’ and we couldn’t help but notice the similarities between her school uniform and Britney’s iconic look. She wore a tartan skirt and white button down shirt with stockings, like Britney did. Vinka is not the first star to pick inspiration from the video, if we remember Samantha J in her “Tight Up Skirt” video, she did the same.

In my opinion, Vinka’s look was contextually believable for a Ugandan school, but since it’s a music video she had liberty to go as outrageous with the look as possible. The way Britney wore this was simply ICONIC.
