Fashion Face-Off: Crystal Newman Vs. Ashley Graham 

Where are the curvy girls at? Our fashion face-off today is between two enviably curvy women, who aren’t just famous for their positivity, but also their style.

Crystal Newman is Ugandan TV personality. Here, she was attending the premiere of Ugandan movie MELA last weekend. Ashley Graham, an American plus-size model was attending the 2018 Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

Newman wore a printed red and black top with extended floor-sweeping fabric from Ankara Uganda, while Graham opted for a pair of flair neon chartreuse green pants with a white cropped top, also with a extended floor-sweeping fabric, from Christian Siriano.

Crystal 

Bruce: I’m not a fan of this extended fabric trend, I think designers run out of ideas and decide to add the fabric, just so they save themselves from creating a basic piece. This one however passes for me. You can tell that the fit is perfect. I also love that the little detail on her pants sits well with the polka dots on the top. Her hair has always been to die for too. Trouble came in with the accessories; the earrings and necklace, one of them has to go.

Hassan: This print looks modern but not memorable, which isn’t a bad thing, since she was at the event as a guest, not an MC. However, the accessorizing is also a bit too much, which makes the look too busy.

Ashley

Bruce: Is it just me, or Ashley Graham has dramatically lost a lot of weight? I love the neon going around, but that extended fabric is unnecessary. The pants are flared, that’s enough.

Hassan: Ashley in this Christian Siriano ensemble is complete perfection.

Verdict

Bruce: I’ll go with Crystal. Christian Siriano put Ashley in a basic outfit.

Hassan: I love Crystal, but Ashley takes this one. Minimal is everything.
