Eat your way to a healthy looking skin

Good skin is what everyone desires to have. To achieve this, takes a great deal of hard work and commitment to what you eat.  It doesn’t take rocket science to figure this out.  The common mistake people make is limiting their beauty care routine to the outer parts alone, and neglecting the essential parts, the innermost parts of the body.  What we eat has an impact on how our body feels and looks. If you consume foods that are concentrated with fat, cooked in grease, and high on sugar your body will reflect the consequence in its shape, size, and texture. However, if you eat foods that are nourishing, you will ripe the benefits by looking and feeling healthier.

1)    Water – Is essential to  life and for our wellbeing. It constitutes about 70% of the human body. Drinking water can significantly help clear off impurities from the skin, and also flush away toxins from the body. The recommended daily intake is at least 8 glasses of water a day. Don’t expect a miracle over night .You have to cultivate the habit for drinking water, slowly but surely you will begin to reap the benefits of a clear healthy looking skin.

2)    Eat plenty of food rich in Vitamin C –  Foods rich in Vitamin C is something you want to be eating more of on a daily basis. Vitamin C enriched foods include: Strawberries, Oranges, Tangerines, Papayas, Kiwi fruits, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts. They all help to produce collagen that strengthens the capillaries that feed the skin.

3)    Make sure you get enough Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acid – These essential fatty acids are responsible for skin repair, moisture content, and overall flexibility. You will find Omega 3 in Oily fish, plant sources like linseeds and flax oil are excellent too. For Omega 6 try safflower, sunflower and corn oils.

4)    Go for foods rich in Vitamin E –  Boosts your Vitamin E  intake by eating foods such as olives , sunflower seeds, peanuts, almonds, wheat germ and leafy greens.

5)    Zinc rich food – Such as Oysters, crab, pumpkin seeds, sardines and wheat germ liver, helps to repair skin damage and keep it soft and supple.
