Doreen Faith Namutebi is Launching The First Plus size Fashion Week in Kampala
Meet Doreen Faith Namutebi
Namutebi is a Ugandan designer and activist, who is very passionate about plus-size style. She’s been running a personal blog documenting style tips and tricks for women with curves for over 10 years.
In 2016 on Instagram, she launched ‘The Figure Bombshell’, a movement and revolution empowering curvy and plus-size women in Uganda. Her campaign has had a huge impact on the industry, designers are now creating designs that cater to plus-size women.
Because of this success, Namutebi and her team have launched Kampala’s first plus-size fashion week.
Plus-size Fashion Week Festival Kampala was created to pioneer a plus-size market within Uganda’s fashion industry with the mission to promote the creatives within it locally and expose them to the international market.
The festival is designed to pioneer a plus-size market in Uganda, where all women feel included whether it is the beauty space, hair, clothing or accessories.
The event will be launched officially this December, on 6th, at Skyz Hotel Naguru.
