Beauty DIY: Make Your Own Rose Oil

By  |

When you’re being loved on and your boo sends you some roses, first of all I’m a little jealous of you, secondly, there’s also that frustration that the flowers will die and you won’t get to keep that gift for too long. Well, let me be the one to tell you that this doesn’t have to be!

Rose oil has so many benefits like helping skin heal from scars and moisturizing it, fighting inflammation, relieving stress and promoting circulation. It also helps to reduce acne as well as act as a great aromatherapy oil. That being said, this is a little fun extra you can add into your skin regimen and make it for free!

Here’s how to do it:

First you need a carrier oil like jojoba or olive oil. These will soak up the essence from the rose petals and make the oil. Then some roses (of course) as well as a pan of boiling hot water.

  • When you take the pan off the fire from boiling, set a small jar with the oil in it to warm up.
  • Get your roses and separate the petals, then crush them up using a pestle (or whatever you have on hand).
  • Remove the jar of oil from the water and place the petals inside the jar.
  • Set it back in the warm pan until the water cools, then you can shift the jar to a warm place, preferably with some sunlight.
  • Let the oil rest for 24-48 hours (depending on how strong you want the scent) and then strain out the petals when done.

Enjoy your rose oil as an aromatherapy oil or face treatment for much longer than you would have enjoyed the pretty flowers
