(Watch): Inside Beryl Qouture’s First Virtual Fashion Show
Anita Beryl of Beryl Quoture over the weekend dropped her virtual show, and all were invited. This was one of the first fashion shows that have gone to the screen, rather than in person. The 10 minute soiree was full of Anita Beryl staples, feminine energy, florals, and glam all around.
The show, dubbed “Futuristic Africa” included 7 unique dresses, each with a mix of fabrics both African wax fabric and modern fabrics. Beryl is not popular for Kitenge designs, so this was an interesting attempt. I loved a number of looks from the collection, however I’m not 100% sure about Anitah Fabiola’s look. I get she was supposed to be the star so she got the most dramatic dress of them all, but we couldn’t see her tiny waist when she turned around. The first look, which was a beautiful white gown with embellishments might have done her justice.
The blue cocktail dress, however, was to die for!
This collection isn’t the ultra haute couture type, but it’s the kind where any dress can be scooped right off the runway and into your closet with immediate effect. I can see some of these looks at a scientific wedding, or another lowkey event where the glam is required. I wonder who might snag up some of these looks in case the ASFAS are still on this year?
Virtual fashion shows seem to be the only way fashion designers can share their vision with the world, because while everything is on a standstill, fashion keeps moving. We have already seen massive virtual shows like David Tlale’s and the 3D show for Hanifa by Anifa Mvuemba, which basically broke the internet. Are there more designers that will adapt to this format? Who’s collection are you dying to see?
