ADA Awards, an Event Set To Celebrate The Culture, Entertainment & Tourism of West Nile Launches!

On Saturday 24th October, 2020, budding Paris-based models, Ayen Milly and Adut Mary Chol, a few celebrites and journalists converged at Heritage Courts in Arua for the media launch of ADA, West Nile’s first Fashion and Entertainment awards event. According to a press release, the event is set to be an annual gala organised to highlight and celebrate the most innovative talent from West Nile. ‘Ada’ is ‘truth’ in Lugbara, and truthfully, entertainers and celebrities from West Nile are always sidelined during awards organized in Kampala.

According to Sam Akuaku, the organiser of the event, the image of West Nile has never looked better. “We have some really exciting places to visit, our entertainment scene is bustling with great local talent, and our fashion designers are building an industry of their own here too, “he said during the launch. “More youth are increasingly choosing to take pride in being ‘West Nilers’, embracing the richness of our culture and uniqueness of our talent.” Ayen and Chol, who are signed to Select Models in Europe, and have walked for brands such as Gucci, were present to share how proud to be ambassadors of the region.

Hence the birth of ADA Awards, a platform that aims to shine a light on the fashion and entertainment stars hailing from the region.

Peparations are already underway for the inaugural event themed ‘Discover The Star‘ slated to hold on 6th of February 2021.

The list of categories covers the entire entertainment scene of the region, which Akuaku believes “will create a sense of unity as players in the industry meet to celebrate their success.” Categories include; best social media promoter, best comedian, Hangout place of the year, fashion designer of the year and many more.
