North West Talks about Her Dad and Goals in ‘i-D Magazine’ Cover Feature, And Tracee Ellis Ross Covers Hommegirls
North West Talks about Dad Kanye West, Her goals, and More in ‘i-D Magazine’ cover feature
i-D Magazine shared a new interview with North West, the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. The cover feature is the 10-year-old’s first ever and an honor that she shares with British talent Sampha as part of the publication’s “New Wave Issue.”
Within i-D‘s pages, North opened up about a variety of different topics, including her favorite song — Ye’s The College Dropout classic “Through The Wire” — and the fact that she gets “a little bit” of her dancing and performing skills from her star father. Much of the exchange proved just how strong confidence remains in her bloodline, as she considers herself a style icon who creates exceptional art and lives an athletic-focused lifestyle. “The best ever,” North said when asked what three words she would use to describe herself.
She also spoke on what she aspires to be when she gets older. “A basketball player, a rapper… When I was 7, I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side,” she stated in response. “When I’m, like, 13, I want to walk dogs to make money to buy art supplies because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell. One day, I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner.”
Tracee Ellis Ross Covers Hommegirls
Thakoon Panichgul’s biannual publication Hommegirls has released its Fall/Winter 2023 issue, with six cover stars. First up: Tracee Ellis Ross, photographed by Martine Syms and interviewed by the designer and editor in chief himself.
In the feature, the Renaissance woman and style star discusses clothing as armor, the importance of self-expression, working in magazines, and her mom’s surprising nonchalance towards fashion, all while bringing the mag into her enviable closet to showcase some of her prized vintage pieces. The issue is out on newsstands November 1, with additional covers featuring of the moment talent boygenius, Amelia Gray, Cailee Spaeny, Zaya Wade, and Adwoa Aboah. Pre-order your copy right here
Skims Announces New Collab with Swarovski
Skims and Swarovski have something up their sleeves for all the magpies in our midst. Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand and the crystal purveyors have teamed up for a line of body jewelry, intimates, and ready to wear in what the latter’s creative director Giovanna Engelbert called “a dream” and a “celebration of strong, independent women.”
