“They (your wives) are as garment to you as you are as garment to them. I made the right choice when I chose Alhajji Kibirige Kasule Mousa as my garment. He fits me perfectly and I believe Allah will bless us” – Aisha Nantongo Kimuli aka Mrs. Alhajji KK.
Meeting
We met at a function. I was the decorator and he was part of the organizers. We dated for four years. He proposed the first time we met and I refused. I just needed time. I turned him down but he insisted. I had high expectations as a beautiful hardworking babe but he cooled me down. He even went to the Kabba in Mecca to ask Allah for my hand in marriage. I finally accepted when he returned. It took me 3 years to accept his proposal and I accepted 2 months to our Kukyala. My parents were supposed to approve so when they invited him over for a luncheon, events turned and it became a formal kukyala.
Traditional wedding
We had a tropical theme, which was inspired by the beauty and freshness of nature. We had sleepless nights planning this big day. Lawd! It was hectic even when I knew what I wanted, but because I am a perfectionist, my own expectations were so high I was that bride that never had an ounce of sleep thinking about what could go wrong. I wanted to make sure I don’t regret anything because I hate surprises.
We had a trio-décor collab. @Icandy, Myself (premierfunctions207) and @itsShowtime. I desired a tropical theme and this was the team that brought it to life. They actually once told me they were scared that I wouldn’t appreciate the work but I was blown away by the results. The team work was good.
My dream had always been to have a vintage feel to my big day. So my friend @TravelBestieUg allowed me to use the cars at no cost. I wanted them to work as juice stations. So they weren’t dummy cars, they were real vintage cars that were modeled to serve the purpose.
I personally hate the normal carpets as per my experience as a decorator, so I opted for The glass floor which reflected well the beauty of the ceiling. @modernfurniture rentals gave us the beautiful Milan chairs and Fenon worked on the lighting, sound and screens.
Most of the equipment we used was mine so most of the decor budget was spent on labour and a few miscellaneous that we couldn’t do without. Also, I was my own planner and it took us three months to plan this wedding. We hosted 200 guests.
The outfits
Kushona fashion designers worked on my Gomesis. We sat down together and picked them out. She is good at customer service and knew that I’m a picky client. But, she was excited to work with me and did an amazing job. Bella Alpha did my head dresses and Imani Makeup did my makeup.
My changing gown was custom made. Shamim and I designed and ordered it but when it got here, it wasn’t fitting. The tailor who took my measurements didn’t take the right ones. I didn’t cry because we had enough time so we took it to Anita Beryl for adjustments.
Mousa’s outfits came in from Turkey.
The Entourage
I had an amazing team but the groomsmen excited me. They looked so lit. Very smart, they were the stars of the show. Oga men’s wear dressed them so well. It was cute. The girls were dressed by Mirembe Nusurah of Blue Label.
Cake
Lush treats ug baked our cake.
Best part of the event
Mousa’s excitement. Oh, he was on top of the moon and the sight of his eyes light up was everything for me. I didn’t cry at any point during the preps but I cried in the morning. The anxiety and nerves took a toll on me, but I am glad I had my mother and friends to keep me strong . Even my mother, who I expected to tear, didn’t. I guess she tested enough on my graduation day.
He created for you, of yourselves, spouses, that you (may) find rest in them!
