Fashion Police: The 2018 Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards Red Carpet – Part 1

By  |

Happy New Year Fashion freaks! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday. During the last month of 2018, we had two of the biggest fashion events of the year. Because of our busy schedules we were never able to do our job of putting some of the red carpet looks up for judgement. Now that we’re back, dust your stylish berets because we’re going to do a lot of judging this month.

This particular edition of the ASFAs was themed ‘Post Modernism meets Africanism’ which was a rather complex theme for the fashionitas to interpret. But, they still showed up. Let’s get judging, shall we?

This was fine until the print ended up on the top. It looks matchy matchy!

Loving the tiered drama going on, but the bodice looks a tad tricky

Spice Diana looked like a disheveled cabbage patch complete with green hair and shoes. The kind of drama to live for!

This dress was complete perfection, but totally off theme!

Hideous! The terrible choice of hair ruined it all

Werk it girl! Off theme, but who doesn’t adore a confident plus-size woman

Mwaj Ahmed took a risk to wear Ciroc’s brand colours and it paid off. She ‘s a complete vision in this custom Fatumah Asha gown.

What’s the dashiki confusion going on here. It looks fine waist down!

There’s something enthralling about her ensemble. It’s clean and chic, but also creative at the same time.

Nina Roz chose to look like a hot mess! She’s allowed after all.

Above everything else, you look like a toddler wearing his mother’s deconstructed dress for attention! Bad idea…

This is painfully lazy!

I’m convinced a purse would have saved you from fidgeting with your fingers.

This looks like a bad tailoring coursework project; terrible proportions and design

Who invited the homeless?

Clearly, that sheer overlay was unnecessary!

There’s no alternate universe in which this kind of reckless abandon will ever be okay! You can’t be off theme and vulgar at the same time.

This can’t even pass for a decent Sunday school outfit!

Such a beautiful dress worn with no attention to detail whatsoever. Boring!

This mattress cover inspired jumpsuit is bad enough, but the thing on her head is just tragic. What a disaster!

Fine men here! The African print sash is giving me so much life. So on theme!

You can never get it wrong in David Tlale!

Someone needs to look at the calendar to realize that it’s not 19173! This is clownish!

This is quite interesting. But, I’m convinced he can do better!

This looks like a terrible attempt to look Egyptian! Not convincing at all.. Good try though!

When a drug dealer fails to blend in on her stash sale day. You’ve been busted!

Stylishly off theme! However, these dramatic pants are giving me life!

So, the grim reaper added a modern twist to his outfit by carrying a gold skull

This looks interesting!

Not with those shoes! No way. You just ruined it all. See how your body painting ended up looking like a bad coloring job.

This is how to ‘serve’!

You can’t argue with this voluminous look meets punk makeup! I fear for my eyes to get poked out!

This is a really beautiful pantsuit, especially because of the flare pants. But, the giant hat worn with it is just tragic.
