9 Things I Wish My Mother Knew

My mother was my role model before I even knew what that word was,” – Lisa Leslie

  • I want you to be happy, you sacrificed a lot for me and almost forget about yourself. I want you to go out, and take over the world, you deserve every beautiful thing there is, and so much more.
  • I understand you were a beautiful girl, with a curvy body, and living your best life until I came along and changed it all. I don’t know how much damage I did, and I know I can’t flip back the time. But every time you look at those marks, let you be reminded of what a beauty of a child you have here.
  • Let me apologize for hurting your feelings. Growing up, you taught me to say sorry when I hurt others, it’s sad that sometimes I haven’t said sorry to you! I apologize for taking you for granted sometimes.
  • If I had to choose between your nose and dad’s, we both know I’d chose dad’s nose. We’ve talked about this before, I know but, I have to live with this nose of yours all my life. It’s a constant reminder of how you selflessly gave it all to me. Oh how I love you!
  • Please let me the person I want to be. You gave birth to me, you had dreams for me but see mom, now I’ve grown and it seems my dreams are totally different from what you had for me. Please let it go, this is my life, and so I deserve a chance to live it my way.
  • Mom when I tell you to take that scarf off because it doesn’t match what you’re wearing, believe me, I’m just making good use of the impeccable fashion sense you passed on to me.
  • You still can fall in love. You have tasted pain, but you also know the true impact of love. There is a man out there for you. You are still beautiful. I want this house to be filled with love, that time when I’m away to start my own family.
  • I am sorry. I did things that you told me not to do. I went places you disliked. I see the pain and passion in your eyes. I know you meant the best for me. I’m here to ask for your forgiveness for the words I didn’t say, for the love I didn’t see, and for the gift that you are, that I didn’t appreciate enough!
  • I love the lips you gave me; everyone tells me they’re cute. And the feline eyes! Oh boy, I could split the sea into two with just these, like in the story of Moses that you loved to tell me. I’m a full person, every aspect and compliment I get, you deserve.
