8 Makeup Hacks You Should Try Immediately, Courtesy of Our Favorite Beauty Stars

You don't have to be a makeup guru to look like one!

Makeup is a must-have for many women, whether beauty professionals or novices; however, knowing a few tips can be a lifesaver and game-changer on your makeup journey. In the spirit of sharing is caring, we’ve compiled a list of makeup tips and tricks to help you up to your game.

Apply foundation first, then concealer.

Starting with a foundation layer reduces discolouration and creates a smooth foundation for the rest of your products. Then you can use your concealer to spot treat, which may result in you using fewer products in the process. Using foundation before applying concealer is a brilliant way to avoid creasing and caking.

Don’t sleep on a brush.

This may seem like an apparent makeup routine but try to find a soft and glowy brush that can help sweep creams and powder along the high points of your cheeks for a brighter look and perfect finish.

To ensure proper gliding, melt the eye pencil.

You’ve probably heard that cream makeup products blend better when warmed up, so if that’s the case, you’ve probably tried it out, but if not, let us explain why. If your eye pencil is tugging on your eyelids, melt it a little until it becomes tacky, then allow it to cool slightly before lining. When you’re finished lining, look in the mirror to see the magic of this hack.

Eye liner can be shielded with a spoon.

If you’re having trouble drawing your cat eye with your free hand, simply grab a spoon and use it as a stencil. As the first step for your cat-eye, place the spoon’s stem against the outer corner of your eye and draw a straight line with a liquid eyeliner. Flip the spoon over and use the rounded outer edge to create a perfectly curved winged effect.

Combine lip colour and Vaseline.

If you have a favorite eyeshadow and want to use it as a lip colour, mix the loose pigments with a bit of Vaseline in a spoon and simply swipe it onto your lips. You just made your own lip gloss.

Before applying lipstick, exfoliate your lips.

Are you familiar with the situation in which you apply lipstick, and it does not go on smoothly? Frustrating and annoying, the short solution is to prepare your lips with a gentle lip scrub. Physical exfoliation will help buff away any dry skin accumulated on top of your lips, leaving them smoother and softer. Lip scrubs should be used no more than once a week.

Contours can be drawn with a brow pencil.

After you’ve applied your foundation, use a profoundly coloured brow gel pencil to contour the hollows under your nose, tip of your nose, and crease of your eyes. Brow gel pencils are highly concentrated but smudge-resistant, making them ideal for contouring.

Using a bobby pin, apply eyelash glue to the lashes.

Apply a few glue dots to the lash band with the tip of a clean bobby pin and evenly distribute it. Wait a few seconds until the glue is tacky before applying your lashes. It will save you from making a sloppy mess with eyelash glue and ending up with clumpy-looking fake lashes.
