4 reasons Ruth Grace might be your next singing super star

By  |

Just a few hours a go Ruth Grace emerged winner of season two of Coca-cola Rated Next  on a highly tweeted note. I guess #CRN2 has been the most tweeted about TV show in a long time. The 14 year old singer walked away with a cash prize of 50 million shillings and a record contract with Swangz Avenue.

We’ve seen many talented singers win shows such as #CRN2 only to bask in oblivion immediately the lights at the grand finale go down. Some people might say Tusker Project Fame or Talent XP are the only examples. However this happens even on shows such as The X factor and The Voice that have huge budgets and much more talented contestants.

I believe Ruth Grace is not going to join this list at least according to my reasons below.

1. She’s young, loveable and sweet. I will be shocked if there’s any one who has a thing or two against her. It’s going to be easy to sell her as a brand at this point in time when she’s a sweet little girl.

2. Swangz Avenue, the record label she’s signed to right now is one of the most successful ones in the business. Their success includes singers such as Irene Ntale and Vampino. The team at Swangz has perfected the art of making stars for the youth market. In a space of just a year, Irene Ntale is topping charts all over the country.

Ruth Grace being 14 – will sink in well with the talent management strategy there. That I’m sure about.

3, There’s a huge market for some one like her. She’s young. She’s loveable and sweet. The music industry in Uganda has a place for a young teenage girl who is multi – talented. First of all many young people (teens to be exact) will associate with her so easily. She might become their new star or poster girl star.

I just hope she keeps her cool and stays young. It will be sad if she turns into this 14 year old girl that acts and hangs with married women. Let her be young and it will work in her favour. This comes with endorsements for campaigns and products for young people.

4. We all agree that she has matured musically and emotionally on the show which is a good thing. She will be able to handle stardom  with ease.

She however has to juggle school with this new found career. This might be the hardest part.

That said, we congratulate her once again on this milestone. We can’t wait to support her as a new singing sensation.
