4 Beauty Queens Share Their Definition of Beauty

As the finale of Miss Uganda 2018 draws closer (it’s only hours away), It is important to ask ourselves what it means to be beautiful. Satisfashion UG talked to four beauty queens to find out their definition of beauty. Here’s what they had to say.

Leah Kagasa – Miss Uganda 2016

“Beauty to me is your perception of yourself. From the inside to the outside. What you have deep within is always reflected on the outside. It doesn’t matter how ‘good-looking’ you are. As long as you’re not good looking from the inside, you’re far from beautiful.”

Sylvia Namutebi Alibhai – Miss Uganda 2011

“My definition of beauty is self-love and self-appreciation, confidence and being the best human being you can possibly be.”

Zahara Nakiyaga – Miss Uganda 2015

“Beauty to me is something or anything that gives pleasure to the human senses like a song. It’s beautiful because it gives one hearing a good feeling. So, anything that tickles my different senses in a good way is beautiful.”

Brenda Nanyonjo – Miss Uganda CEO

“Beauty is not just the outside; like you’re pretty, tall, nice hair and all. It’s a lot more than that. That’s why sometimes you see a man, not exactly tall, they don’t have the best body but when you look at their personality;, character, empathy and more, they’re attractive. You can buy the nice hair, you can get a butt lift, buy your nails, you can even change your skin colour but all that doesn’t make you beautiful. You need a lot more.”
