The third edition of Kampala Fashion Week kicked off with the grand finale of The Seed show where a 17-year-old young designer Semanda Charles Brown emerged winner. The Skilled Expressive Entrepreneurial Designers show (SEED Show) is a fashion project designed by US Mission Kampala in collaboration with Kas Wear under the mentorship of Ras Kasozi. The objective of this project is to promote fashion entrepreneurship among the youth in Uganda. Participants from across the country mentored and prepared to put their art and creativity on the big stage.
This year’s show had 10 participants, each of whom had to present just one outfit to a panel of judges comprising of Gloria Wamunno, Aamito and the US ambassador to Uganda Deborah R. Malac. Semanda’s creation of a suit, hat and a matching bag with interesting detail scored the highest points from the judges.
The look was modeled by Ronald Waiswa.
