15 Years & 2 Children Later, Manuela Mulondo’s Dream of Walking the Runway Finally Came True
Manuela Mulondo delivered a major surprise to guests at the Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards when she took to the runway to walk for @ipigogohouseoffashion —wearing a one-of-a-kind white floor-length number that featured gold and silver embellishments
Mrs. Mulondo started the night in style walking the red carpet and fully showing off the garment in the most sophisticated and high-fashion way possible but as the night went on, we were all treated to a shocker when she took to the runway to showcase for the fashion house. Her walk was so iconic it immediately went down as one of the most memorable moments at the event.
In a statement on her Instagram that she titled ‘Story time’, Mrs. Mulondo had this to say about her runway debut:
“During the time we were going through the roughest of patches, I thought that apart from selling juice, I could get some money engaging in the performing arts.
I had just flopped the East Africa’s Got Talent audition and the judges had told me that I would probably do well being a model. And I am one to take advise seriously; so I went to the top modeling agency at the time for an audition, and this was the comment I was given;
“If you were taller, you would be a model, but even if we gave you the highest heels you wouldn’t cut it. Maybe as a face model, but your skin (I had acne) would need to be clear for that to happen. And that you can work on.”
15 years and two children later, still as short as I was then, with the highest heel I could find, and a clear skin…. I walked the runway for a fashion designer……
