Jullian Kyomuhendo Believes Children Should be Encouraged to Participate in Beauty Pageants!

By  |

Meet Jullian Kyomuhendo Triaha, a 24-year-old ex-beauty queen. After partcipating in different beauty pagents such as Miss Uganda, Miss Tourism and Miss Earth, she was inspired to create ‘Little Miss Uganda’, after coming to the realisation that there was no beauty pageant for kids. Little Miss Uganda uses pageantry to unlock talents and passions of kids whilst promoting the different cultures of Uganda.

In her own words

The Little Miss Uganda Foundation found it rather discriminating that children are always excluded from many of the existing beauty pageants, yet we believe that involving children in these competitions helps to develop their inter-personal skills and intelligence.

Challenges

The journey hasn’t been without challenges. Firstly, gaining confidence of parents to hand over their children to us hasn’t been easy. However, as the parents observe the development in their young ones, they become more and more at ease when they let us work with their children.
The other challenge has been generally dealing with parents when their kids do not win. Every parent wants the best for their children, and having some parents accept that their kids haven’t won has been a big challenge.
The most challenging issue is finances, where everything concerning kids pageantry requires money, the event itself, wardrobe, makeup artists, designers, trainers, facilitators, staff renumerations and more.
