Milan Fashion Week is always hosted in Italy in some of the most beautiful aesthetic venues ever seen. The Spring- Summer Fashion Week is always the most creatively exciting fashion event in the year for most. Designers like Moschino, Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang, Versace are most anticipated to showcase impelling youthful, edgy styles that always clog your Instagram feed without fail.
We all certainly have different tastes so do not take my word for it. Here are ten of my favorite looks that I thought would be sensational if tweaked with typical Ugandan lifestyle aspects.
1.A Goats Race Outfit:
Carolina Herrera displayed neat, chic style this season. The first thought that popped up when I saw the stripes was the trendy Kikooyi. Keep the design and switch up the material with the bright red and yellow Kikooyi. Lucky for you, the colours blend well with any skin tone.
2. Office end-of-year party:
When you look closely, you’ll notice the tropical palm leaves designs sewn onto the shirt. When you think Uganda, you think banana leaves, maize combs, cassava leaves. Subtly incorporate these into your corporate shirt and pair with a suspender dress or pants to discover your inner Versace.
3. An ASFA kind of outfit
From the giant puffy sleeves to the multi-colored trail, this outfit by Christian Siriano is definitely a show stopper. I would only make the shorts shorter to reveal more skin- we can’t afford to have both arms and legs covered up.
4. Festival style:
This is velvety but can be remade with bark cloth. The SEED Fashion House can not let you down, that I know.
5. Casual but fashion
No complaints keeping it an all- black look but for those who might prefer some colour, transforming the black flowers into multi-colored silk ones or even using one colour palette will suffice.
6. Wedding guest
Sequins are a timeless accessory but that neck line should be adjusted to a V or cut out to allow the dress stand out.
7. Miss Tourism Pageant Contestant
Moschino always brings fun to the runway. It can be giant fur ball dresses or Eurocentric Music themed ones.
Creative wear is the best way to promote tourism through fashion so the next time you’re tasked to create something, think local instruments like the bow harp or bow lyre or xylophone better still, the Nankasa drums.
8. Blankets & Wine vibes
I totally love how cool and free-flowing this outfit is. Make it Ugandan and have the skirt with Kikooyi fringe.
If you cannot afford Dr. Martens boots or a Steve Madden sneaker like me, head to town and find a pair of simple colorful slides.
9.Movie premier fit
There is not a thing I would change about the cut out dramatic sleeve. Not a fan of stripes? Rely on a particular primary colour and use different hues of it in silk or cotton or velvet.
10. “Cheers to the freakin’ weekend”
Another of my favorites from Fendi. Now you might squint when looking through the brand’s catalogue unless if you have a Bible wallet.
This is all about hues. You’ve seen them in denim form too. Go for lighter clothes and limit the colour block.
