Cindy Sanyu is Launching ‘Cindy Sanyu Beauty’, her Cosmetics Brand!

By  |

Cindy Sanyu is making a jump into the now burgeoning beauty industry with ‘Cindy Sanyu Beauty’, her own cosmetics brand. According to the singer, who is Satisfashion UG‘s ‘Person of The Year‘, the brand is set to launch officially in 2021, “if all goes well.”

Cindy Sanyu Beauty is an idea the singer has been toying around with since her days in Blu*3. “We used to struggle to find quality makeup products, and also there were no professional makeup artists then,” she recounts. “Makeup is something I had to learn,” she continues. “In the process, I learned a lot, especially about my own skin and my shade as a black woman, and how African skin is really complicated when it comes to makeup.”

The brand is already producing powder, lipstick, lashes and eye shadow. “I just want to get into everything beauty right now. I think it’s going to work pretty great. I plan to launch next year, if all goes well,” she tells Satisfashion UG.

Cindy Sanyu joins a long list of celebrities who have launched beauty brands, leveraging their influence and huge social media following. Sanyu boasts over 680k followers on Instagram alone.

When I had just started out in Blu*3, we used to struggle to find quality makeup products, and also there were no professional makeup artists then. Makeup is something I had to learn. In the process, I learned a lot, especially about my own skin and my shade as a black woman, and how African skin is really complicated when it comes to makeup.

Right now, brands are getting more inclusive with shades and colours, especially Fenty, but there’s nothing like that for the typical Ugandan woman’s skin. I thought that I should so something about it, and so, I started my own makeup line, called Cindy Sanyu Beauty. I want to do cosmetics and even more products catering to the needs of people here.

I’m all about Uganda and East Africa. I want makeup that anybody  can wear; our own shades because our skin tones as Ugandans are complicated to work with. My brand is affordable for every Ugandan; from a woman who sells tomatoes on the streets all the way to CEOs, something that cuts across. Affordable but with quality that competes with all these international brands, and I’m on my way there.

We’ve started small, with shades for both men and women, on the cosmetics side. And for makeup, we’re doing; powder, lipstick, lashes, eye shadow and more. I just want to get into everything beauty right now. I think it’s going to work pretty great. I plan to launch next year, if all goes well.
