Sandra Suubi’s Janzi Awards Outfit Was Created From Bark cloth, Car tyres and Ribits

Sustainable Grandeur!

The 2021 Janzi Awards opened with a riveting delivery of the national anthem by Sandra Suubi. However, it wasn’t just her powerful vocal range that got everyone talking, her outfit did too. The singer wore a stunning creation, which featured a spiky bodice made from car tyres and a floor grazing skirt split in 4 pieces. Each piece was carried by a bouncer, which created a stir as she arrived.

The costume was designed by Xenson, a renowned fashion designer and multi-disciplinary artist. Sandra Suubi was so excited and honored to have worked with Xenson, and was in awe when the creation was fully done. According to the two immensely talented creatives, the look was created on Sandra Suubi’s body, which made the process interesting.

Janzi Awards was a two-day-event held under the theme “Uganda for Us. Us for Uganda”, to honour artists, musicians, producers, writers, dancers, companies, performers, innovators and other creatives who have made substantial contributions to the Culture, Creative and Performing Arts Industry of Uganda.
