Be it office or for an evening dinner, do you know the proper length of a tie to wear? Although the tie is a formal accessory that when wearing it adds an extra to any outfit, there is a basic rule of the length that it should have so as not to look sloppy or weird, especially when it comes to suits and formal looks. So as a way to eliminate any doubt about the length of the tie that should be used, we leave a basic guide with a few tips.
The length of the tie: the classic
From the classical perspective, the golden rule for the tie is simple: the point should end in the middle of the waistband or belt, ending right at that point. It is important to consider that we must be in a natural posture when placing it, since if we stand up straight, when returning to the normal posture it could be very low. Therefore, if the tie is far above the belt, revealing the buttons of the shirt or if it falls above the closure of the trousers, it is too long. For square-toed tie , the “point” should be just above the top of the belt, just slightly covering it.
