Zari Says Snakeskin Print is Still in For 2020!

By  |

If you thought snakeskin print was over, think again! It’s still in, and you can’t do much about this.

After all, Zari Hassan, the fashion icon who spent a huge chunk of 2019 wearing the print is still wearing it even in 2020. I have never understood this snakeskin print craze. This, in part, is because of my herpetophobia; everything in the reptile family gives me the creeps. I’ve failed to appreciate the idea of wearing snakeskin print as fashion.

Unfortunately for me, animal prints ruled 2019. It was some sort of battle between snakes, leopards, tigers and even cows (yes, even cow print happened for a week). Unsurprisingly, snakes reigned supreme thanks to support from the celebrated ‘Mompreneur’, who is followed by over 7 million ‘Zari die-hards’.

The mother-of-five took to her Instagram every day to share a photo either posing in her compound (besides a very expensive car) or in her office wearing a different iteration of the print; from hand purses, shoes, skirts, dresses, pants and more. It’s the only evidence I have that probably her entire closet is filled with snakeskin print. And, her ‘die-hards’ don’t just follow, they follow suit.

Zari wearing snakeskin print, again!

During our end of year review meeting, as we were compiling our list of the best-dressed women of 2019, Zari’s name came up. Someone on the team quickly pointed out that “all Zari did this year was to wear snakeskin print from January to December!” That, combined with my immeasurable dislike for snakeskin print, was the reason she never made the cut. (Now you know why). See the list here in case you missed it.

Fast forward, it’s 2020, and I’m confident the ubiquitous trend is over, but Ms. Hassan has a totally different plan. She takes to her Instagram to tell us that “she’s not worried about Jan-worry.” She does this while clad in snakeskin print pencil skirt. This is undoubtedly the most disappointing thing I’ve seen in 2020, so far!

Maybe I was wrong about the print after all. It’s probably not as disturbing to look at as I thought.

Before you get carried away, the gist here is, snakeskin print has slithered its way into 2020, and we have absolutely nothing to do about it, because Zari is still here influencing people to wear it.

PS: I can’t believe I’ve just used over 300 words to convey the news!
