When it comes to creative concepts for shoots, you can always expect Solomon Tazibone of Kredibility Styling/Hair to go above and beyond.
This time round, he plays up on our collective arachnophobia by morphing a model’s hair into a gigantic spider. I’m not even sure what to think of this, Imagine that’s the look you go for, and forget you have a spider on your head when you go to the bathroom mirror and immediately get a heart attack.
Solomon saw it differently though, in the accompanying Instagram post, he explains, “Black hair is more than just a cosmetic feature. Although different hair styles and manipulation act as an art form through which messages about race, spirituality, class and gender are conveyed, the versatility of African hair is yet to be fully explored.
These avant-garde hairstyles showcase how adaptable African hair is to structural manipulation. This photo series celebrates a different type of art and expression through the kinks & coils we are blessed with.
This hairdo is inspired by the legend of ‘Anansi’ the spider.”
Take a look and let us know what you think!
