Veronica’s Wish Lands 7 ZAFAA Global Awards Nominations 

2019 is definitely a big year for the film and movie industry in Uganda. ‘Veronica’s Wish’, a drama which premiered on 17^th November 2018, starring Nisha Kalema, Housen Mushema, Malaika Nnyanzi and Symon Base Kalema, has landed 7 nominations at the 2019 ZAFAA Africa Film and Academy Awards.

The categories for which the movie (and cast members) are nominated in are; Best Supporting Actor Female(Malaika Nnyanzi), Best Screen Play(Nisha Kalema), Best Picture Editor(Ireeta Alex/ Kayyongo Kavan), Best Lead Actor Male (Housen Mushema), Best Lead Actor Female(Nisha Kalema), Best Producer(Nisha Kalema) and Best Director(Rehema Nanfuka).

‘Veronica’s Wish’ is contending with another Ugandan film, ‘94 Terror’ for the categories of  Best Producer, Best Director, Best Lead Actor Female, Best Screen Play and Best Picture Editor. This, in my opinion, gives Uganda a great chance of winning all 3 of the above awards.

’94 Terror’ is a Ugandan war-drama about the Rwandan genocide of 1994. The film has been nominated in 5 categories at the awards, namely; Best Producer ( Rhonnie Nkaluba Abraham), Best Director(Rhonnie Nkaluba Abraham/ Mulindwa Richard), Best Lead Actor Female(Ninsima Rhona), Best Picture Editor(Ali Akrouf), Best Screen Play(Mulindwa Richard).

ZAFAA Awards is a movie and film awards ceremony held annually to celebrate, recognize and elevate African movies and films within and outside Africa. The event is slated to hold on 24^th November in Abuja, Nigeria at Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
