Ugandan model Patricia Laloyo fronts new jewellery line
Patricia Laloyo has been tapped by Black Betty Design a jewellery store to front their new jewellery line called ‘Shapeshifters’. She was a formidable force in the modelling business here in Kampala before moving to Cape Town South Africa.
Black Betty is a local jewellery line by Kristin Weixelbaumer, a designer based in Cape Town who started her range after travelling through India for 6 months. Kristin is especially interested in the healing properties of the stones they use in their pieces, all of which are ethically sourced, naturally formed and hand cut.
The model poses with the pieces in the wonderful look book photographed by Lar Rattray. This is when we nod in approval when Joram Muzira says “boy oh boy she slayed this one!” The range, launched last Thursday as part of Cape Town’s vibrant monthly ‘First Thursday’ art experience, and is inspired entirely by the notion of African Geometry.
Inspired by the notion of African Geometry, found in everything from the the cities’ overarching skyscrapers, Cape-fold mountains and interesting graphic patterns of the continent’s design language, the Shapeshifter Range by Black Betty is an expression of this fertile land and its evolving shapes. Although these facets of the city, it’s natural surrounds and textured products seemed fixed to the naked eye, they are continuously growing and changing and as the ages and decades pass so too does their energy and the way they are perceived, reminding us to do the same.
Here is a sneak peek of what Patricia can offer.
