Ugandan Model Keilan Ivan Kiryowa Scores a Major Modelling Contract in South Africa 

Another Ugandan model is headed for international stardom. 20-year-old Keilan Kiryowa has moved to Cape Town after signing a contract with Fabulous.com models, joining the ranks of other stars from the agency such as Anyon Susan.

“Well I’m excited and a bit tensed up, it’s a cocktail of emotions because this is going to be my first time away from home on my own and I don’t know what to expect,” Kiryowa tells Satisfashion UG exclusively about the new gig.

“I’ve always wanted to be independent though, so this is going to be exciting,” he adds.

Here are excerpts from our chat with him

On how he landed this gig

“I got scouted through my agent in Uganda Ronnie Nsubuga of Crystal Models. I was lucky enough to get the attention of bookers at Fabulous.com Models who signed up right away.”

On how he got his start as a model

“I gained interest in modelling when I was about 14 or 15. I was able to do commercial work then because I was young,  I had not yet discovered my self as a model. Thanks to my friend from Germany who is a model, I was pushed to join an agency. She told me about the fabulous lives models live.  I mean trips to new places and meeting new people, so that excited me and so far I’ve not been disappointed.”

On what people don’t know about him 

“Most people don’t know that I’m vegetarian.”

On his passions

“Animals. I’m a farmer. I also enjoy writing.”

Advice to other models out there

“It’s very important for you to be yourself. Do your research, know your angles and believe in your agent.”

On what we should expect from him

“Expect only hard work from me as the South African market is different from ours. And also raising the Ugandan flag really high.”
