Tyla‘s British Vogue cover is yet another milestone in her unstoppable rise, solidifying her status as a global music and fashion icon. From viral lyrics to show-stopping fashion, South African sensation Tyla is on a winning streak, and we’re here for it!

Since the release of her smash hit Water, she’s taken the world by storm—topping charts, sweeping up awards (including a Grammy, BET, and Billboard win), and redefining global pop music.

Now, the 23-year-old “Queen of Popiano” is making yet another power move—gracing the cover of British Vogue’s March 2025 issue. The feature, written by Funmi Fetto, takes readers from London to Johannesburg, diving into Tyla’s journey, her rise to superstardom, and what’s next for the unstoppable hitmaker.

From the outside looking in, @Tyla’s rise to fame has been nothing short of phenomenal. That’s not how she sees it, though. “Since I was little,” British Vogue’s March 2025 cover star tells @FunmiFetto, “when anyone asked me what I wanted to become, I always said, ‘I’m going to become a singer.’” In the new issue, the 23-year-old discusses her arrival in the fast lane of fame, growing up in South Africa, and what’s in store in 2025.

@Tyla – full name Tyla Laura Seethal – is earnestly attempting to make sense of her extraordinary catapult to world domination. “You know when you’ve always felt like you’re destined for something? That you’re going to make it one day? But then when it actually happens… it’s like something you can’t explain,” she says in the March 2025 issue of @BritishVogue

“I really feel like I have changed so much since ‘Water’ and my debut album,” @Tyla tells @FunmiFetto in the March 2025 issue. “I have grown into a different version of myself. A little more spicy, a little more bold. I’m excited to just put that into the music.” Here, watch as she brings a little of that spice to the set of her British Vogue cover.

Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, Beyoncé and Britney Spears: these were the artists that soundtracked @Tyla’s childhood in Johannesburg. But it was the Barbados-born Rihanna who really moved the needle for British Vogue’s March 2025 cover star – and to whom she is most often compared. “Coming from somewhere outside the States, I really looked up to her,” she says. “I used to think you’re only going to become famous if you’re born in America. She made me realise there is another way.”
