The ‘80s are making major moves in the style department right now, and we can’t be more excited. High impact sleeves in the form of puffs are slowly taking over from the ubiquitous off-the-shoulder silhouette which is still showing no signs of going away. The ‘80s were all about exaggerated shapes and these sleeves offer exactly that.
A few local designers such as Sham Tyra, who is a big fan of exaggerated shapes are already including pieces with puffy sleeves in their latest collections. So, it won’t be a challenging chancing upon a dress or top with the dramatic sleeves. The beauty of puff sleeves is the feminine power they give the wearer.
Just like all ‘80s trends, styling them can be a trick. However, it becomes easier if you incorporate them with something modern. For example, when wearing a dress with puffy sleeve, consider keeping the makeup minimal and accessories muted down. It helps to not overwhelm the rest of the outfit.
