Timeline: All The Celebrity Weddings of 2022, So Far
According to a report shared at the start of the year, roughly 2.5 million weddings are expected to happen in 2022. Owing to lockdowns all through 2020 and 2021 which forced many couples to postpone, reschedule and cancel their nuptials, 2022 definitely had to be the year of weddings. And, indeed, it is shaping up to be such a boom for brides and grooms, if these celebrity weddings are anything to go by.
Who doesn’t love a celebrity wedding? 2022 has given us a generous number of them, so far, and we are still counting. Here are all the Ugandan celebrity couples who have tied the knot this year, so far. Please check back, as this post will be updated quite regulary (I promise).
Nahya Shero and Sultan
On 23rd June, 2022, the internet was taken by surprise when Nahya Shero shared photos and videos from her muslim wedding. She later quietly changed her third name from Sali to Sultan. In 2019, the ace-makeup artist married businessman Mamoom Ssali in a string of grand events. Details of what became of the union are scanty, but what we know is, Nahya is now Nahya Shero Sultan.
Jeff Ssemakula (Makula Pictures) & Liz
On Thursday July 21, 2022, Jeff Ssemakula of Makula Pictures married Liz, his longtime partner, in a civil ceremony.
Stanbic’s Anne Juuko & Apollo Makubuya
On Sunday July 17, lawyer Apollo Makubuya, flanked by friends and relatives visited Stanbic Bank’s CEO Anne Juuko’s parents in a Kukyala (family visit) ceremony. According to My Wedding Magazine, the award-winning banker wore a simple yet elegant black gomesi featuring gold floral detail.
Sheila Nduhukire & Derrick Kakonge
On July 16, 2022, National Medical Store’s publicist Sheila Nduhukire and businessman Derrick Kakonge held their Kuhingira (giveaway) ceremony. The event was held at her parents’ home in Kiruhura district.
Lucy Smize & Henry Mulira
Content creator Lucy Smize introduced her partner Henry Mulira to her parents in a lush intimate First visit ceremony which was attended by her inner circle of friends including Anita Beryl, Rebecca Nanjego, Mrs. Matovu and more. For the event, Lucy wore a Beryl Qouture gown in an unconventional colour combo of cream and lilac, while Henry wore a grey and light green suit from Larry Casual. The couple is set to hold their traditional wedding and White ceremony in the next few weeks.
Kleith Kyatuhaire & Eddy Kayemba
Former media personality and now ace-saleswoman Kleith Kyatuhaire and businessman Eddy Kayemba quietly jetted into town and wed in a string of events, first a traditional wedding in 2021 and later a white ceremony which held last June.
Precious Remmie & Raymond Bindeeba
On June 24, 2022, media personality and actress Precious Remmie introduced her partner businessman Raymond Bindeeba to her parents in a grand traditional wedding ceremony which was attended by many celebrities.
Leah Kagasa & Aaron
“On June 8, 2022 – I said I do to my best friend in a civil ceremony. Praise God! He is mighty and He surely is a faithful God,” Miss Uganda 2016 Leah Kagasa shared to her Instagram. The now US-based content creator married her partner Aaron.
MartBarber
On June 2, 2022, celebrity barber Martbarber took to his social media to share photos from his wedding. “My heart is worth melting for my better half. Light has been added to my life. I’m now heading to my destination of happiness,” he captioned the images.
Emeka (the romantic Mukiga) & Mackline Asiimire
On June 2, 2022, comedian Emeka, the romantic Mukiga, took to his Instagram to share photos from his and his partner Mackline Asiimire’s First Visit (Kukyala) ceremony. Mackline, who works as Secretary for Sports & Culture at National Youth Council of Uganda, took to her Instagram to share photos as well. “@emeka_ug officially came home to ask for omukago,” she wrote.
Victoria Bagaya & Martin Kiggundu
NBS TV’s Victoria Bagaya and her long-time partner Martin Kiggundu ended the year in style. On 31st December, 2021, the couple hosted friends and family to a big wedding bash held at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel. The internet oy learned about the event days into 2022.
