This New App could be the Key to Getting The Youth to Vote

#Iwillvote

With only a few days to the polls, many youth and young people are still unmoved. Many don’t know if they are on the voters’ register, many aren’t sure they’ll vote, and many others simply just don’t care about the whole exercise.

This, however could be about to change, thanks to a new mobile app which aims to avail voters especially, digitally savvy youth, with up to date information and news on the voting process.

The app, called Londaapp, which is a brainchild of Ugandan tech firm Kanzu Code, is a free and open source solution that removes barriers to getting involved in the electoral process by giving  the youth all necessary information needed, according to a press release. Kanzu Code has partnered with Kafunda Kreative, a creative agency, on this campaign

The app offers everything from basic details such as; how to vote, the presidential candidates’ bios and what one needs to vote; to the manifestos and trending topics. It offers users the opportunity to ask questions on the voting process, and answers can be availed by their portal.

“The first step in promoting our country is by electing our leaders who share the same heart about our country as we do, leaders we we can work with. All our best intentions will be futile if the leaders who are chosen aren’t pushing policies that support us,” says David Ogutu, Team leader, Kafunda Kreative.

The campaign dubbed #Iwillvote will help voters especially youth, to share why they’ll be going to vote whilst, the Londaapp will avail them with the necessary information to make informed decisions during the process.
