The Winnie Nwagi-Vinka Collab Of Our Dreams Just Happened!

We love to sing along to the catchy sounds of both these songstresses who are both here to stay on the Ugandan music scene, but seeing powerhouses Vinka and Winnie Nwagi link up for a song has us in a frenzy! They are both strong artists with mesmerising performances and memorable music, so coming together to make “Amaaso” was a move we didn’t see coming, but secretly hoped we would.

The visuals for the song were released on Sunday and it has given us hope for a bright September. The love song is full of colourful visuals, from their enviable wardrobe to the blooming nature they are surrounded by.

One thing that struck me as I watched this video is the homage given to uplifting black movies, like the recent remake of Lion King and a hint of Black Panther in there. The biggest homage that jumps out at me however is the concepts from the video Spirit by Beyonce, for the 2019 Lion King remake. Scenes of them at the waterfall, the deep jungle with the background dancers in the contrasting warm colours, the night scene with the body art and their lineup ‘deep stare’, this video completely reeked of the Queen B! They say Imitation is the best form of flattery, so we can’t be mad at them taking a page out of B’s book – in fact we are in love with how it came out and how they translated it to their concept!
