Most times when you hear about skincare products to add into your beauty routine, most times we will rely on the brand to tell us what they are doing and why their product is the best. You will hear things like “helps with dry skin, treats pimples, hyperpigmentation” etc… This also mostly means they will try to be the product you pick by focusing on glamorous packaging.
There’s one brand that decided they weren’t going to play that game, they call themselves The Ordinary. The Ordinary does not play with cute product names and diamond shaped packaging; they choose to go ordinary and give your skin what they need. If you’ve ever heard of them then you know their products sound super scientific, with simply the name of the major chemical in the products. They say it’s because they want potential customers to know exactly what they are buying and what it does.
They also do this to take away the stigma surrounding chemicals for your face because not every chemical is bad, and even nature has chemical compounds. Their point is that you should research them and come up with an informed decision. Their bottles are also pretty simple containers with droppers, no fancy colours, no fancy boxes. And their prices! They say skincare products are so expensive because of branding, and not because they have some secret magic ingredient to take away your pimples forever. You’re basically paying for the box.
This company is also really dope in when you look at it, they do not try to make you spend impulsively, and they don’t even spend money on adverts. Who in 2020 does that? Their focus is on your skin’s needs and quality product, the customers come by. Their slow shopping model of making you look at a crazy looking title, go off their website to Google it, research some more and then come back eventually is so refreshing in a consumerist society.
It’s about time we knew what we were slathering on our faces, rather than doing it simply for the sake of looking flawless by any means necessary (including breaking the bank.) In Uganda there are a few suppliers who can get it to you at a great price, like Mi Tresor Uganda which typically sells them at 50k a piece.
