The Internet Has Officially Rejected This New Way to Wear Your Skirt, But Don’t Listen To It!

We always take fashion advice from the internet, but this time we’re saying NO! So, over the weekend we had a fun shoot with our friends at ICONIC UG (located at Senana Mall Basement I know you want to check it out). We decided to pay homage to Juliet Olanipekun, also known as a (@lovefromjulez) on Instagram, a fearless Nigerian fashionista.

Olanipekun is cool because she’s always coming up with funky ways to wear whatever it is she wears. One of the most interesting tricks in her style arsenal is wearing her skirt from the chest instead of the waist. It’s nothing new though, our mothers dressed like this almost every morning as they got us out of bed to get to school, albeit being unglamorous then. The politics events strategist (yes she also has a cool day job) made this styling trick so cool that we believe it is the coolest way to wear any skirt.

In true Satisfashion UG style, we styled Debbie, our lovely model in a printed pleated skirt over her white t-shirt. We glammed the look up with a pair of studded heels and a goat skin clutch bag. We thought this was cool until a photo of her in the look ended up on social media.

Boy, the internet has never been so unimpressed. See below a few of the scathing comments the photo received.

I always did this with my towel while in high school.
For some reason, I couldn’t get it any lower. 
Am surprised that it’s now fashionable….

This reminds me of how some small mizigo women get out of the house with skirt up their boobs and start roaminh around the neighbourhood like…. What am I even saying?

The trends lately!!!Even wearing that skirt that way without a blouse underneath as if doing chores at home will become a trend soon as well hmmm

Others kinda liked it, but thought the t-shirt was a terrible idea..

I think if it were a light pink vest or navy blue vest it wud maybe wrk
