Anok Yai is the cover star of Vogue France’s August issue, photographed in Saint Barth by Mario Sorrenti. She represents a special kind of power, vibrant, magnetic, and full of life. This issue is all about new horizons, letting go, and taking time to recharge, find inspiration, and reconnect with yourself. It asks an important question: how can we stay grounded in a world that is always changing? How can we truly switch off?
Anok Yai was born to South Sudanese parents who moved to the United States and raised her in New Hampshire. Growing up, she learned the importance of hard work and built a strong, determined mindset over the years. Along with her incredible modeling career and breathtaking beauty, Anok is also a painter; something she discovered early on.
She shares that her art helps her deal with fear and anxiety, feelings she has carried for a long time. “I realized that the more open and vulnerable I am with my paintings, the better they turn out,” she says.
Anok opens up about how, when she started her career, she was so obsessed with working hard and so scared of failure that she even felt guilty for relaxing for a few hours. But today, she has learned to think about what truly makes her happy. Through art, she has found a way to slow down and create space for peace in her life.
In this special August issue, Anok Yai talks to Vogue about fashion, art, self-confidence, and how she sees the world. As one of the biggest names on the runway, she continues to inspire with her strength, her beauty, and her honesty.
