Africa Week, a week-long celebration of everything Africa started yesterday with a fashion showcase at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. The celebrations lead to World Africa Day (May 25th) which is a celebration of the commemoration of the creation of the African Union Organisation on May 25th, 1963 in Addis Ababa.
The fashion showcase featured Ugandan designer Stella Atal who showed a collection of unique pieces made with barkcloth. To complete this Ugandan story, Judith Heard flew in from New York just for the event where she walked the catwalk. At the end of the showcase Atal and Heard raised Uganda’s flag so high, we are still so proud.
